Scientific & Film Support
Stoney Creek Shipping began working on marine projects with National Geographic in 1994 with a project in the Marshall Islands. The research vessel Mystique was then brought to New Zealand to hunt for the giant squid. Once Braveheart joined the Company, it was giant squid again, then a voyage into the Antarctic Ross Sea to film and study huge icebergs.
More recently, Enric Sala from the Geographic brought his research team to Claymore II For a month long study of the Pitcairn Islands – Pitcairn, Oeno, Henderson and Duice – on land, the shoreline and under the waves.
As with our other vessels, Claymore II can be adapted to accommodate the extreme demands of research, film making, extensive diving and remote location support.
